Teach Your Children poetry and watch them create poems from a childs eye's view

Childs First steps to Poetry-
A child has a natural wild imagination and the amount  of stories and poems they can create will amaze you. There are many ways to get your child to start writing but you as a parent of your future child poet have to aid and guide your childs poetic talents. So one of the first steps is to talk about things with your child such as rainbows, what he or she likes about the park or fishing, how they feel when they get mad, or what the color red might taste like to them.

It is endless as to what you can discuss and you will find out very soon that if you talk to your child they will say the strangest most fascinating things.

Childs Second Steps to Poetry-
The next thing is to get a piece of paper out with a very good eraser. Lay the paper in front of the future child poet and have he or she write down some of these items. After these items have been written down then ask for ways these items are used and can be described. Pull the adjectives and all descriptions out of your childs mind and as you do thid you will be teaching your child a pattern of description. Not only will this help in Poetry, Story Telling and future classroom work but it will aid in having your child be a better speaker, writer and poet.

Do you know anyone who speaks with such wonderful and descriptive words? Chances are you dont and it's unfortunate not to have the opportunity to listen to an expert talker who pulls people from all directions just to hear what they say.

Childs Third Steps to Poetry-
Now that you and your child hve created some keywords to write in your poem with some wonderful and descriptive adjectives it is time to start thinking about a title or header. Once you have decided on a title or header for your poem which will set the thems or direction of your poem your ready to get started.

Now poetry does not have to rhyme at all so dont worry about it rhyming. Instead try to bring your childs imagination out with Personification. What I mean by this is, try helping your child bring to life some things that arent alive like inanimate objects. Here is a sample of personification:

"The shirt in my closet turned into a monster as it stood with sleeves like arms ready to grab me. It sensed my fear so I hid under the covers as it planned its next move."

Now see how a simple shirt came to life above. With that said now you can imagine how many objects your child can bring to life and give feeling to. A childs imagination is an asset to her or his future writings and unless challenged they will never develop or be inspired to what their poetential allows them to be.

Childs Fourth Steps to Poetry-

Now that you have the basic steps to getting your child to write poems and become a child poet or even a child story teller its time to stick to your guns.

Encourage your child every day to write atleast one or two lines to their poem. Sit down with them while they do it and help give suggestions and provoke them into thinking deeper about the subject.

Remember your guiding them, not writing the poem for them. Although it maybe a good idea to have your own pen and paper and wirte your own next to them. Remeber children want to be just like us so please set a good example in everything you do and they will grow from it!

Good Luck and please let me know how it is going with you and your child.

Sincerely
Jesse
My Poetry Site

Adult written poetry can be written from a childs point of view. We all remember our youth and therefore we can write youth or child poems.

Writing Poetry as a hobby is a wonderful way to speand time in a more positive direction when your on the web. Dont be bored write Poetry, be the poet, find something to personify about and bring those memories in your head to life.

It is natural for adults to be alienated from society and have free time at night when our children are sleeping but sometimes we feel alone. We lack the ability to entertain ourselves especially when we are single parents. So I say write, Join Poetry Scriber and write about God, or write about Sex or current events. Learn Haiku poetry, take a stab at being a famous poet and writer, but most of all do something with your life.

To Write is to Exhist, To read is to Grow

From love poetry which everyone sooner or later writes unitl they have children, then start writing child poetry or Teen poetry to reflect their growing kids.

What I like is when their kids poetry is diplayed on the refrigerator, a birth of a new poet. Poetry writing is something that blossoms with time as do the type of poems we write.

When I was younger I made my first book of poetry which at the time didnt have any romantic poetry in it whatsoever. I wrote more optimistically and inspirational, Poetry had a way of just flowing from my mind and through my hand to the paper.

As a teenager I wrote Dark Poetry, black and Grim, rarely funny, poetry though still flowed but with a different emotional mind set. Personally after years of writing poetry, I have done at all from rhyming poetry to Haiku poetry.

Ive even started writing Myspace poetry and have become quite the Myspace poet. My "poetry publishing Self " has written all over the web and I still cant get enough of it.

What is amazing is when I write an erotic poem and then five seconds later write a christian poem. Somehow it doesnt feel right but at the same time I feel I have to create whatever my mind is ready to produce.

Myspace poems tend to be more written as friendship poems probably because of the amount of friends I have there. I really dont choose a poetry type it chooses me and I just write whats there. I have only feelings to share with words, not even taught any poetry terms or many of the styles that are available. Either way my poetry is magnetic so I go to the poetry slams and throw some words out there and the poetry wars are on.

If you like to write dont write to have famous poetry, a masterpiece, write because you love it, it inspires you and you want and need to do it. Poetry is free, its a gift to give the world, friends and loved ones.

Good Luck and have fun Writing
